How to Integrate Attio with PartnerPortal

Use this guide to connect Attio to PartnerPortal, understand how sync flows work, map PartnerPortal phases to Attio deal stages, and configure your Attio CRM settings. PartnerPortal syncs to Attio’s Deal object and creates the related person and company records alongside each deal. (Still comparing tools? See how PartnerPortal stacks up in our guide to the best PRM for Attio.)

  • Admin access to PartnerPortal
  • Access to the Attio account you want to connect
  • The Deals object enabled in your Attio workspace
  1. Open Integrations from the PartnerPortal sidebar.

  2. Click Enable Attio.

  3. Sign in to Attio or approve the connection if you are already signed in. Approve the requested permissions so PartnerPortal can read and write deals, people, and companies.

  4. After the connection succeeds, click Settings on the Attio integration.

  5. Click Configure to open the mapping screen.

The PartnerPortal Integrations page with the Enable Attio button.

If your Attio workspace does not have the Deals object turned on, the configuration screen shows a notice instead of the mapping options.

  1. In Attio, open your workspace Objects settings and enable the Deals object.

  2. Return to PartnerPortal and reopen the Attio integration settings.

  3. PartnerPortal finishes setup automatically once it can see the Deals object, and the mapping options appear.

If Attio asks you to reconnect, use the Reauthorize action from the integration settings instead of disconnecting and reconnecting from scratch.

When a lead is approved in PartnerPortal, the integration creates the mapped Attio records and sends the portal data into those records based on your configuration.

For each newly connected lead, PartnerPortal creates three linked Attio records: the Deal, the associated Person, and the associated Company. After those records are linked, Attio becomes the main source of truth for ongoing synced deal changes back into the portal.

If Sync Deal Details Back to PartnerPortal is enabled in CRM Settings below, changes to stage, close value, close date, and won/lost status in Attio can flow back into the linked portal lead. Changes made in PartnerPortal do not sync back into Attio. Attio also does not support the separate Two-Way Sync setting that exists on the HubSpot integration.

Every new synced Attio lead creates those same three records: a Deal, its related Person, and its related Company. The mapping screen controls how those records are populated and which deal stages partners can see.

  1. Open the Deal stage card under the Deal object.

  2. Click Map Values.

  3. In the window, match each Attio deal stage to the PartnerPortal phase it should represent.

  4. In On Create set Attio Deal stage to, choose how new deals from PartnerPortal should enter Attio:

    • Static value: every new deal starts in the same Attio deal stage
    • Infer from Mappings: PartnerPortal chooses the starting Attio deal stage from your phase mappings
    • Map manually: you choose the exact starting stage for each portal phase
  5. Click Save.

The Attio Deal stage card expanded with the Map Values button.

The Attio map-values window showing the On Create setting and each Attio deal stage mapped to a PartnerPortal phase.

Attio assigns each deal to a workspace member, so PartnerPortal lets you pick which member new deals belong to.

  1. In the Deal object, open the Deal owner field.

  2. Leave Type set to Static Value and choose the Attio workspace member that new deals should be assigned to from the Value dropdown.

  3. Save the field.

The Attio Deal owner field set to a Static Value with a workspace member selected.

The Deal, Person, and Company objects are core to the Attio integration and cannot be removed from the mapping screen. The person and company are linked to the deal automatically, so you do not need to map that relationship yourself.

Custom field mapping lets the values collected in PartnerPortal flow into the correct Attio deal, person, or company attributes.

For the PartnerPortal side, most customer-facing lead fields come from your lead registration form. Connect the integration first, then come back here to map those fields.

  1. In the object you want to map, choose the Attio attribute from the dropdown.

  2. Click Add.

  3. Open the new field and set:

    • Type to Portal Object
    • Object to Lead
    • Field to the matching field from your lead form
  4. Save the mappings.

  1. Confirm the select attribute exists in both Attio and the PartnerPortal lead form.

  2. Select that Attio attribute in the appropriate object and click Add.

  3. Set:

    • Type to Portal Object
    • Object to Lead
    • Field to the matching PartnerPortal dropdown field
  4. Click Map Values and match each PartnerPortal option to the correct Attio value.

  5. Save the value mapping, then save the main mappings page.

Map partner data that is not on the lead form

Section titled “Map partner data that is not on the lead form”

Some values belong to the partner rather than to the submitted lead form. In that case, you can map existing PartnerPortal partner data directly without adding another lead field.

  1. In the Deal object, choose the Attio destination attribute.

  2. Click Add.

  3. Open the field and set:

    • Type to Portal Object
    • Object to Partner Organization for company-level partner data, or Partner User for individual partner-user data
    • Field to the exact partner value you want to send
  4. Save the mappings.

Click Save mappings at the bottom of the configuration page when you are done. The Attio integration will begin syncing deals using the stage and field rules you just configured.

If you also need more lead fields available to map into Attio, update your lead registration form first so those values exist on the PartnerPortal side.

These settings live below the mapping interface on the Attio configuration screen.

Attio works best when Deal remains the primary object. That keeps the linked record in PartnerPortal centered on the deal while still creating the related person and company alongside it.

Turn this on when you want Attio to update linked lead details in PartnerPortal after the records are created.

When enabled, Attio can update:

  • stage
  • close value
  • close date
  • won/lost status

When disabled, PartnerPortal still creates and links Attio records, but later changes in Attio do not update the portal lead.

This setting controls what PartnerPortal should do if Attio says the record already exists.

OptionWhat happens
ErrorPartnerPortal stops the create action and returns an error when Attio detects a duplicate
AdoptPartnerPortal uses the existing Attio record and continues tracking it

This setting controls what happens if one part of the multi-object create flow fails.

OptionWhat happens
Don’t CleanupObjects created earlier in the flow stay in Attio even if a later object fails
CleanupPartnerPortal deletes the records it created in that flow if a later object fails to create
  • Phone numbers are not currently mappable. Attio stores phone numbers in international (E.164) format with a country code, which PartnerPortal does not yet capture for leads and partners. Phone is therefore left out of the Attio field mappings for now. Every other mapped field still syncs normally.
  • Deals only. The integration syncs Attio’s Deal, Person, and Company objects. Attio Lists are not supported.
